What better way to spend an afternoon than taking your son or daughter to an outdoor event? I recently got to take my little boy Michael to the Sunshine Showdown in Kissimmee FL. This is an event put on by the Bassmaster Tournament Trail and is extremely kid friendly!

If you are anything like me you find yourself to be busy almost all the time. This can get dangerous to your family and even to your health. You really need to take a timeout once in a while and just enjoy your family. I am very lucky that I have a wife and son who love the outdoors and I really cannot express to you how happy that makes me. The outdoors are always going to be there but your little ones may not, so take advantage of the time you have and spend it wisely. Michael and I had a blast once again and those memories he will cherish forever. I can remember the times my dad would take me fishing but I often forget what happened yesterday. The outdoors will make an impact on anyone’s life if you take the time and give back to them what someone once gave to you.

Even though it was in the mid 90’s at the event we attended it was well worth the time we got to spend. Bassmaster puts on a very good expo for people of all ages but the focus is in the right place, the younger generation. Kids can spend time working with carpentry, fishing techniques, getting autographs from the pros or just sitting down for a good old fashion hot dog. The Bassmaster Elite Series pros are very helpful with questions kids may have and they always take time out to spend time with children. In today’s world positive role models can be hard to find. Make sure you always bring along your camera to capture moments you will always cherish. Making a difference in a persons life at a young age can get them on a path to success that they will never veer off of.

I hope the next opportunity that you have to share the outdoors you will take full advantage of it. It could very well change a life. I am just glad my dad and grandpa took their time to pass along the outdoors to me because I would not want to miss this for anything!
